The Caparison TAT series, featuring a through-neck design was one of the first Caparison series from the original 1995 line up. Production of this design ceased in 1997 however following overwhelming demand, 2006 saw it's much anticipated return. The re-introduced models feature new pickup control configurations and finishes.
The Caparison TAT series has a unique structure to take advantage of the through-neck design: Typically, most guitars, the neck is relatively parallel to the body angle. The TAT series features an arched body top increasing that angle. In addition, the neck has a conical 350-400mm radius with a flattened rear profile and the heel and body cutaways are smooth, beautifully contoured and shaped. This results in a more comfortable playing position particularly when playing beyond the 12th fret.

The Caparison TAT Special is the development pinnacle of the TAT series featuring a Flame Maple top, and uncommon for a through-neck design, oiled Maple neck. To ensure the strength and stability of the Maple through-neck we were presented with a challenge. After experimentation we finalised the design; a five-piece construction incorporating two narrow Walnut sections (stripes).
Using knowledge gained from incorporating a 27-fret neck into the design of the Orbit. Unlike the TAT/TAT II, the TAT Special also features 27 frets. A modified asymmetrical body shape allows for easy access to the upper frets.
Other notable differences between the TAT/TAT II and the TAT Special include the different pickup configuration incorporating the use of the design specific SH-27F and the addition of the ‘Rotary Switch Control’.
