The Caparison Horus-HGS was originally produced at the request of an endorsee. Following a year of research and development the Horus-HGS specification was finalised. One of the issues we encountered was the unique and small body shape of the original Horus, along with the 628mm scale length was not advantageous for a heavy gauge string setup. After experimenting with different options we established that by utilising Walnut for the body material the issue was resolved.
About The HGS (Heavy Gauge Strings) System:
The Caparison HGS system is designed for guitarists that utilise a lower tuning than standard. The bridge position is mounted 3mm further down the body and the pickups moved accordingly. The result is that the string tension is correct without the need to alter the neck length and hence force the player to adjust their playing technique.
The Horus-HGS pickup configuration consists of a Caparison Design SH-27F and Caparison Design PH-R, both chosen for their performance with ‘B’ tuning. The latest version of the Horus-HGS incorporates a dedicated 3-Way toggle switch pickup selector introducing a third pickup selection option.
